Vegan salad rolls

I have made these countless times now, and each time I do make them I get raving reviews from everyone who gets to taste their deliciousness.

I decided that it might be a nice idea to give everyone a how-to so that you are able to make these at home, all the time! Like me.

1. Collect all of you ingredients. If you're anything like me this is not something that you do beforehand and will more than likely just wing it as you go. Don't! In order for these to work right you want to have everything prepared and ready to go (like an assembly line).
To fill my rolls I use: lettuce, carrots, cucumber, peppers, bean sprouts, avocado, and vermicelli. Then for the wrap I use rice paper.
All of this can be bought at local grocery stores. Vermicelli and rice paper will be in the Asian food section!

2. Chop everything up into little strips, or... if you're lazy (like me) get the lettuce and carrots already pre-shredded. Bad for the environment because its extra packaging, but I really can't be bothered to shred it all myself a good chunk of the time - I am a student and I really don't have a lot of extra time!

3. Once you have everything chopped, cook your noodles and start warming a frying pan of water for the rice paper (do not put the rice paper in yet!) Once the noodles are cooked, put them back in the pot and have everything else ready to go, and now you can assemble!

4. Take one of the pieces of rice paper and put it into your frying pan of warm water for about 30 seconds, it should be pliable and slippery. Take it out and then load on your vegetables (work fast!) Then you simply roll the whole thing up like a burrito. It took me awhile to get them perfect, and not ripped or stuffed to much. Practice makes perfect.

I really hope that this made some sort of sense to you, I am terrible with step by step, especially now that I can do these bad boys in my sleep! For those followers who are not vegan I have seen people add chicken or shrimp, just add fewer vegetables if your planning on throwing some meat in there. For the dipping sauce, I just use sweet chili sauce, or hoison sauce (watered down). They are delicious, quick and so filling!

Until next time, be well.

Music Obsession.

I thought I would share some of the music that I have currently been obsessing over. Some of these songs are old loves of mine that I have rediscovered, and a couple are tunes that I have recently come across for the first time.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Childish Gambino - "Heartbeat"
I don't know how to explain why I love this so much, it might be the beat... I danced around in my kitchen the first time I heard this song (yes, food ended up everywhere). It could be the man in the video, some of you will recognize him from a show called Community (if you haven't seen it yet, I promise you will not be disappointed). I really just don't know how to explain it, it has become a happy song for me and has not yet gotten old.

Caro Emerald - "A Night Like This"
It was hard for me to pick just one of her songs to share because I love her entire album! I was in Remedy studying the other day and was lucky enough to listen to the entire album play while I was there. I fell in love with your sultry voice, and array of brass instruments accompanying her - not to mention the piano... to die for!

Pitbull featuring a variety of others - "Give Me Everything"
Judge if you must, but I recently went to his concert and it was honestly... so awesome. Get past the trash, smut and talk about bangin' those ladies it is a totally catchy song. You can easily put this song on when getting ready for a night out, or when your sitting around your place with the girls and want to just dance around like goons (it happens at my house quite often). He is a guilty pleasure, but he does have a special place in my iPod... and heart.

Shearwater - "Animal Life"
A random that I came across on my iPod somewhat recently from a BIRP playlist that I subscribe too. The playlist as a whole can be a little bit too eclectic for my taste, but there is a handful of songs that I do enjoy enough to listen to - OVER AND OVER! This happens to be one of them, I just find it so pretty. There isn't to much else I can say about this.

Damien Rice - "Dogs"
I have had a long time love for Damien Rice that is no secret and this song is no different. I love his voice, I love how all of his songs just provide this wonderful serene vibe for me. He is a favorite of mine and I enjoy him. He is one of my favorite "listen to while doing homework" singers.

These are just a few, and hopefully I will be able to share some more of my favorites in the near future. And again, I hope that you enjoy listening to some (or all) of these if you haven't already done so.

Feel free to share some of your favorites with me if you have something that you think I would enjoy! I am always open to hearing new music, it excites me!

Till next time fellow bloggers, be well.

A new era!

Although some already know I am sure that there are a few people who have not yet heard the news! I have officially left Save On Foods, and I promise I will not be going back.... again.

I chose to make April's 15% Tuesday my last day, why I don't know since it is one of the most ridiculous days of the month, but I did.

It's been quite the 6(ish) years, and there have been some really awesome days as well as some really terrible days. I met some really great people through Save On, and some of them are now really amazing friends and there are some people that I would really rather not ever see again.

All in all working at Save On was a learning experience, I have learnt how I would like to treat people, and how I would like not to be treated. I have learnt that in business there will always be untruthful people, as well as people you can trust completely. However, the most important thing I have taken from this job is the knowledge that the general public will take service workers for granted. They treat us like a lesser human, like a slave and sometimes they wont even acknowledge you. I am not saying each and every person is that way, but the ones who are make this job much harder for the cashiers to do.

I'd like to lay out a couple of rants I have when it comes to being a cashier, and I am sure that everyone who has been a cashier (and still is one) can relate to this.

1. Despite what people seem to think, groceries do not bag themselves - we do.
2. I am a real person, and since you are standing in line with nothing else to do you can acknowledge me, since I took 3 seconds out of my day to have the common courtesy to do that to you. If for whatever reason you do find yourself on the phone or mid conversation with your comrade when you reach the cashier... excuse yourself smile at me, greet me or give me the finger I really don't care. Just don't treat me like a machine, it's offensive.
3. For those capable human beings who have the ability to take steps, lift bags and do work I don't think it would harm you to help me out a little bit when you see my struggling with YOUR GORCERIES. I would appreciate it much more then have you standing in front of me staring at me while I struggle.
4. If you do find me without a customer just standing around until the next person comes to the till, don't try to make the funny joke, "Oh, you were just waiting for me weren't you?" No, I actually wasn't! It turns out I do get paid regardless of wether or not I am helping a customer. So I was actually waiting for my shift to end, not for you.
5. Despite what you may think, I am a cashier and not a mathmetician. Please don't get snotty with me when I can't tell you all of the conversion rates. I do promise you that we are not ripping you off, and if you would like to do the math yourself on your own time, so be it.
6. Inflation is not something that I conjured up in my mind to try and ruin your day, or heaven forbid your life. Inflation is a fact of life, we all know what. A series of unfortunate events occur - ALL THE TIME - which causes prices to go up. I will never understand why you would blame me for something that I have no control over, and newsflash I work a medial job so it's effecting me too.

I believe that is all I have for now, followers I know you understand where I am coming from. Please feel free to share your stories if you have any, I would love to hear them.

Until next time, be well.
